Phi Phi map and photos

PhiPhi Don is situated 48km from Phuket and 42km from Krabi.
Many people have heard about PhiPhi Islands and associate them as a tropical paradise.
Unfortunately PhiPhi is much overexploited. The nature is still beautiful but if one looks
for tranquility more distant islands in the Andaman Sea should be preferred.
The harbor and PhiPhi Village is a small crowded area with one beach Ao Lo Dalam.

Many resorts are situated in the northern part at Laem Tong which you reach by longtail boat only.
We stayed at P.P. Erawan Palms Resort. The Thai styled houses were comfortable but the ocean view
from the terraces was limited and there was not much to do except swimming and walking along the
beach visiting neighbor resorts like Holiday Inn Phi Phi Island and Phi Phi Natural Resort for meals.

The Chao Lay -  ancient tribe people (Sea Gypsies) had a small settlement nearby at Laem Tong.
These freindly people had a shop and a restaurant that served local cheap meals on the beach.
It was our favorite pasttime to visit them.

70% of the area of Phi Phi destroyed by the tsunami waves that hit the islands on Christmas Day 2004.
Hundreds of people, both locals and tourists died here.
