Decided to combine our first trip to Parnu in southwest Estonia with the celebration of my 69th birthday.

We travelled by boat to Tallinn in nice sunshine...

....and then by express bus to Parnu 130 km south by Via Baltica
CLICK BIGGER!
Villa Ammende seemed to be a proper high
level accommodation for the occasion.
Most people come to Parnu for Spa and medical treatments
- we didn't. We came to eat and drink prime!
The service was nice and friendly. We got upgraded to
a Double De Lux room and served sparkling wine on my
birthday at the terrace. The dinner menu was tempting but
in the dining room smoking was obviously not permitted so
we did not enjoy any dinners at Villa Ammende.

The selection of restaurants was not as good as in Tallinn.
We can recommend Asian Village at Rüütli 51. They served
fantastic Chinese, Indian, Thai cuisine. The king prawns were
as good as in Thailand!
Smoking permitted!

I don't publish any further photos from Pärnu because
they are so similar to my photos from streets and buildings in Tallinn.

The buildings and restaurants at the main street Rüütli
you can watch from here

Pärnu
is situated at Pärnu Bay and one would expect nice sea views from town.
Forget it! Actually you don't see the sea from the city.
You have to walk a few km to reach

the dunes and then you can see this:

We also took a bus 30 km south along E4 to Häädemeeste
hoping to see a fishing village, some boats and a port.
Disappointment - No sea or shore in sight!
