Koh Lanta
Arriving Koh Lanta our expectations were high, should we find the best island of our trip?
Our hotel met us by car at the pier and we drove 4 km south from Saladam to Holiday Villa.
See photo collage of Holiday Villa.
Koh Lanta is a rather big island and the beaches and numerous resorts are concentrated to
the west coast. Roads are in bad condition and the inland landscape is dull.
We drove one day by car to Sanga-U Village to see how the Sea Gypsies lived. See more about them here!

Saladam Village, next to the pier, has a lot of local restaurants built on poles overlooking the waterfront.
Here you can enjoy a good meal for next to nothing.  The restaurant keepers live at the premises and
often have a small shop at the entrance.
These restaurants are  characteristic for Koh Lanta. See photos below!
The price level at Koh Lanta is somewhat lower than in Phuket or PhiPhi and the beaches not crowded.
No wonder Lanta is very popular among Scandinavians and Germans.

For snorkeling and scuba diving Koh Lanta is ideal. For those not  practising this sport there is not
much to do. I was looking for photo objects. Found only a few and  insignificant.

Tsunami Report
Received following good news from TIME FOR LIME
Koh Lanta was also hit hard by the tsunami but it was spared much of the major destruction compared to the other islands. Already Koh Lanta island is on its way toward full recovery .Although many resorts here have had damage, most have already re-opened or will do so within a few days. The beaches themselves have already cleaned themselves up.
