Air a private Egyptian airline.
Unfortunately not a direct flight
from Helsinki
but via Luxor: dep HEL 14:00
arr LXR 19:30, arr Ophira airport (SSH) 21:00
by MD83 aircraft. Total flight
time 7:30hrs!
Why Egypt? Why to Sharm el Sheikh? It was a caprice.
We had not visited Egypt for
many years. In midwinter there are not so many destinations
within reasonable distance from
Finland with warm and sunny weather in February, so we
chose Sharm to get away from
snow and ice for one week knowing very well this was not our
idea of ideal holiday destination
as we neither dive, snorkel nor like the overcrowded beaches.
Sharm el Sheik did not get any
good publicity due to the air crash of a charter flight on January 3
and a shark attack close to
shore at Coral Bay on February 14th just a few days prior to our arrival.
